CRUISE INFORMATION UPDATE

As some of you are finding out, the prices that were quoted to us in April are no longer being offered by NCL.  This means that unless you have already put down a deposit, the prices quoted have increased by roughly $200 per person.  Nonetheless, I believe it's still a good value especially if there are lots of us going.

I also want to encourage those of you who want to join the cruise but don't have a cabin-mate to let me know as there are several people in that situation.  We can room people together to save the "single-supplement" fee that is charged to solo travelers.

Right now we have 16 people who have deposited (see list on the right), but many on the "fringes" who will deposit soon.  Based on the early interest, I estimate there will be 75-80 people in our group, so get your deposit in as soon as you can.

This is the Norwegian Pearl, one of the "Jewel Class" ships NCL operates in Alaska.  You can get more details  about the ship by going to ship overview

Aloha Everyone!

Welcome to the first post of our '72 Cruise Blog.  I'll keep you up to date on the latest happenings with our cruise but we're still over two years away so we'll take some time to get familiar with cruising, Norwegian Cruise Lines and Alaska.  The pricing for 2014 won't be available until early 2013, but you can get an idea of the Alaska itineraries and the September pricing by going to this link: Sept 2013 Itineraries and Pricing   We are going in September because the cruise fares are about $300 cheaper (per person) than mid-summer fares.  Keep in mind that our pricing will be different but this will give you a ballpark figure of what to expect.  Also factor in round trip airfare to and from Seattle (unless you're driving or live there).

Another important feature of Norwegian Cruise Lines is their "freestyle cruising" program that allows the flexibility to dine at your leisure in a less formal atmosphere, entertainment options and a wide range of accomodations that are designed to suite your tastes and budget.

The typical Alaska cruise stops in the Alaska ports of Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway, visits several different glaciers and cruises through Glacier Bay.  You can find out everything you wanted to know about shore excursions by checking out what to do in Alaska.

We will be planning some activities while we're on the ship as well as a mini-reunion in Seattle the night before the cruise leaves for classmates, friends and family who live in the Pacific Northwest.

OK, that should keep you guys busy for awhile!   I'll be posting information about once a month until details start to firm up early next year.

Email me with any questions, concerns, comments or ideas.  Aloha, Benny
